Thanks to all who attended and supported the National Day of Prayer last week. Thanks to PACT for organizing this important Day in our Country’s history: past, present, and future. Also, thanks to Pastor Cole Branstetter for the use of the Nazarene Church in Bowling Green.
Thanks to the Bowling Green First Presbyterian Church for allowing me to share with them concerning the Love Thy Neighbor program. The Love Thy Neighbor project is a community home repair ministry at no cost to homeowners who are physically or financially unable to make necessary repairs or replacements to the exterior of their homes. The program is a multi-denominational program to help people improve, beautify and increase property values in Bowling Green. However, their scope and vision are to go beyond Bowling Green and into neighboring communities. It is also their goal to have other churches join with Second Baptist Church for prayers and potential volunteers. The more workers, the more projects that can be accomplished. If you are a homeowner and need assistance please contact me at City Hall, Second Baptist Church, or go one line to Love Thy Neighbor and fill out the eligibility form and/or the volunteer forms. If you would like me to come to your organization, club or church for more details or forms, please contact me at 314-941-2277.
Another great work that is having an important activity is Bowling Green’s Options for Women and the Walk for Life event on Saturday, May 17th. Registration starts at 10:30 and the official WALK at 11:00. They are also serving lunch as a fund raiser from 11-1:00 pm. You can delight in BBQ pork or hamburgers, or hot dogs, chips, and drinks. I’m told walking is not required but there will be live music, face painting, bounce-house, and fun. There’s something for everyone in the family. Profits go to welcome packs for new mothers, diapers, formula and bottles, plus onesies clothing. This year is also a recognition for founder and loving friend Mary Oberman. Call 573-213-5119 for more information on teams and other ways to support.
Thanks go to Mark Twain Regional Council of Governments for selecting Bowling Green’s Park and Recreation Department with the “SLING INTO SPRING” GRANT. The Mark Twain Council has been very good to Bowling Green over my last 5 years in office as they also awarded a 100% grant for the Comprehensive City Plan. We are still requesting anyone who lives, visits, or does business in Bowling Green to fill out a survey which will help our elected city leaders and stakeholders plan for Bowling Green’s future for the next 5,10, 15+ years. Let your voice be heard through this survey. I will continue to invite you citizens of Bowling Green to come to our General Council meetings on the first Monday of each month and the Board of Alderpersons meetings on the third Monday of each month.
BGHS Baccalaureate is on Wednesday May 14 at the BGHS auditorium at 6:00 pm.
