Parks and recreation are administered by the Park Board Advisory Committee, a volunteer group of nine local citizens.
The Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of programs and activities designed to engage a wide ranging population.
Parks include the City Park, 15th Street Park, Cancer Memorial Park and the Bowling Green Conservation Area. The City maintains playgrounds, a public swimming pool, soccer fields, baseball fields, a basketball court, walking paths with fitness stations and fishing areas. Shelter houses and the concession stand located in the City Park are available for rental for parties and outdoor gatherings through City Hall.
Two city owned lakes provide fishing and camping opportunities, along with a sand volleyball court and a rental pavilion for outdoor gatherings.
We also have a City Pool open during the summer season located near the Bowling Green City Park. For additional information you can reach the Bowling Green Pool at (573) 324-6918.
The rules at the Bowling Green City Pool have been updated to ensure the safety of our patrons. Please make note of the new guidelines for supervision of children:
Supervision of children:
To swim un-attended at the pool the child must be 11 years of age and up.
Children 9-10 years must have a parent or guardian on site at the facility, but they do not need to be in the pool with them at all times.
Children 8 years and younger, MUST be supervised by a parent or guardian, IN the pool, within arms-reach of the child.
Passing a Deep End Swim Test does not eliminate the need to comply with this rule.
To supervise as a guardian of a child 8 years of age and younger, you MUST be 16 years of age or older.
For additional information, or to rent any of the facilities, please contact City Hall at (573) 324-5451.
